Glazes

Glazes have been around for years.  In the past, they were primarily used on Concours-quality show cars for the ultimate wet look and shine.  These cars were never exposed to the elements, so protection was less of a concern than the look.  If they are using glazes, why aren't you?

Since your daily driver needs protection, you will want to use a glaze under your wax or sealant.  Glazes are usually composed of various oils and other components to give a wet look to paint.  Glazes look best on darker colors like red, blue and black.  They offer a lot of depth and wetness.  Be sure to use them after your polishing is done and before you apply your wax or sealant.

Carnauba waxes work best when used on top of a glaze.  The oils in glazes sometimes cause bonding issues with certain finicky sealants.  Many sealants still work well with glazes, so if you're unsure just give us a call.  Because most of them have no protective qualities, glazes are often used on fresh paint jobs while the paint is still curing.
